Materials :
Glass full of water
A fresh Celery plant with leaves on it
Food coloring liquid (bright color)
Directions :
- Take the glass of water and pour in a few drops of food coloring liquid.
- Place the Celery plant in the glass of water like you would plant a tree.
- Wait for a while and note the change in the color of the stalk of celery.
Assessment :
Celery drinks the water up its stalk. When food coloring liquid is put into the water, the water gets "polluted". When this polluted water goes up the stalk of the plant, color in the water gives the stalk its color.
