Tell A Story: Panda Bear

Materials :

    • Flash file: Tell A Story About A Panda Bear

    • Paper and crayons or markers

Directions :

    • Open the Flash file. Tell your child to study the Panda Bear carefully as he/she looks at it. Say that you are wondering what the bear is feeling and that you are not quite sure. You need his or her help to make up a story about this bear.

    • Read the text.

    • Your child may wish to draw the story and then "read their drawing(s)." Or, your child may want to make up a story on the spot. Either is great practice for thinking about story elements.

    • When ready, allow your child to read you his or her story. Express your enthusiasm and gratitude that this story was written for you!

Preparation :

Preparation: Download the Flash Tell A Story file or play it from the Stories page on the children's site.

Reinforce The Learning :

Discuss the story your child told. Acknowledge the elements of "story" that your child included referring back to them. Ask your child if they would like to try the Tell A Story activity another time. This helps create positive anticipation for another learning experience.
